In my eight years of experience as a professional composer, audio engineer, and sound designer, I have developed an understanding of numerous different types of projects. From my time spent installing audio systems in theatrical spaces to my time spent composing soundtracks and creating audio soundscapes for video games and short films, I pride myself on my ability to work in a number of different capacities. I studied music composition at Kansas State University which provided me training in both live-performance of styles ranging from baroque to modern and jazz as well as audio engineering techniques ranging from live recording to post-production.
When it comes to music composition, I rely on my orchestral training to create intricately crafted sheet music in Finale. I find the creation of printable music helpful no matter the project. This provides me the opportunity to export my creations as midi files which I can then import to Ableton Live. I have put a large amount of professional resources towards crafting an in-depth VST library, so I have a plethora of virtual instruments I can choose from when assigning sounds to midi files. I have created audio in strictly orchestral style while also creating "new wave" style synths and drones. The final step for me entails exporting the Ableton creation to Pro Tools and Audition to give the music one last layer of finesse.
I use Pro Tools and Audition in a similar capacity when working with live recordings. Be it podcasts, private audio files, transcription information, audiobooks, or voice acting projects, I have found a vast amount of experience in multiple fields of post-production audio editing. I even have the ability and tools with which to mix audio live in theatrical or performance venues.
I pride myself in having a unique, personal style with enough flexibility to adapt to a project's needs when necessary. I have written commissions for instrumentalists for several different instrument combinations: a three movement piano solo, a four movement saxophone sonata, a bassoon and viola duet. I was also commissioned by the Kansas State University foundation to create a piano solo with spoken dialogue for the commemoration of their "Innovation and Inspiration" philanthropy campaign.
My multimedia credits are equally varied. I have worked on several independent video games, ranging from 8-bit platformers to visual novels and horror RPGs. I have also provided the score to several student films. My work extends into the commercial domain, as well. My compositions were featured in the soundtrack to Mattimation's "Carl and Doug" on Amazon Prime.
My greatest passion is creating music and audio that takes people on a positive emotional journey. I work extremely collaboratively and am open to any projects.
