Only a Mask

3m, 3f

Psychic superpowers. Max has had them ever since he was a child, ever since a once-a-decade comet passed Earth and blessed — or perhaps cursed — him. His best friend Sam has always helped him keep his secret, but after years hiding away, she's ready to fight back against the constant demonization they've faced together. When she hears whispers that a superpowered organization called The Reigning Storm is researching and running experiments based on the comet, she convinces Max to join alongside her and use his powers to help her uncover the organization's secrets. With Sam's hunger for strength at odds against Max's fear of being discovered, the duo run the risk of pushing each other towards villainy. Will they be able to stay true to themselves behind the masks they wear?

Following the story of the 1990s Mars Pathfinder, Sojourner, after it lost communication with NASA, Rover explores the concepts of purpose, drive, and approval. Do we create art for others or for ourselves? How does our art change when there is no audience to see it? Incorporating continuous sound design and interstitial musical moments, Rover takes a multidisciplinary approach to communicating its message and bringing the Pathfinder to life.

Inn-Dependent

The Stackman Inn, a family-owned hotel, has stood as a bastion of hospitality for generations, but financial hardships weigh heavy on the business. With Claire, a fiercely independent businesswoman, keen on buying the property, it seems operations are only one major catastrophe away from being upended. Will Arty, the bright-eyed new bellhop, be the breath of fresh air that convinces the hotel's quirky crew need to unite and take action?

Drawing inspiration from the Golden Age of musicals, Inn-Dependent seeks to tell the tried-and-true tale of shows like Singing in the Rain: boy meets girl, they tap dance, and they unite to solve a problem. Inn-Dependent reframes the narrative as boy meets boy and uses familiar cliches to show that connection in all of its forms is what truly matters. "Here's to the friendships, brotherships, partnerships, and relationships we've made here in the end."
